The warm dark-stained wood is intricately incised with fine white linework and luminous natural shell pieces, while an ornate antiqued brass-tone latch and small bracket feet complete its traditional decorative appearance. Opening the hinged lid reveals a vibrant red velvet-lined interior with divided compartments, ideal for rings, earrings, bracelets, and other small keepsakes. This style of shell-inlaid wooden decorative box is associated with Indian handicraft production, and this example appears to date to approximately the 1970s–1990s, made in India.
