Released in 1965, Rubber Soul marked a major creative turning point for The Beatles, blending their pop and rock roots with increasingly sophisticated songwriting and strong folk-rock influences. This copy is the original U.S. Capitol Records mono release, catalog #T-2442, in the early second-label/second-pressing variation. The black Capitol rainbow label has no “subsidiary” rim text, identifying it as an early issue, while the presence of “THE BEATLES” above the individual band members’ names distinguishes it from the very first label variation, which omitted the group name. (Friktech) The U.S. edition also differs significantly from the British release, opening with “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and featuring a distinctive 12-song sequence that includes “Norwegian Wood,” “Michelle,” “In My Life,” “Girl,” and “You Won’t See Me.” A desirable early mono pressing of one of the most influential albums of the 1960s and an excellent addition to a Beatles or vintage Capitol Records collection.
