Full of humorous Western character, this vintage “Old Paint” chalkware horse figurine features the exaggerated swayback, exposed ribs, drooping head, long face, and weary expression associated with the caricature designs of American Western artist H.S. “Andy” Anderson. Produced in the United States during the 1940s–1950s, the painted plaster figure is finished in mottled brown and black tones with a green ground and bears the distinctive “U” within a triangle brand on its hindquarter.
