Explore North America as it appeared a century ago with this original 1924 National Geographic Society map of North America, prepared especially for The National Geographic Magazine under editor Gilbert Grosvenor and published in Washington, D.C. Copyrighted 1924 by the National Geographic Society, this detailed folding map depicts Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central America, Greenland, the Caribbean, and portions of the Arctic, with an inset showing the Aleutian Islands and the eastern portion of the West Indies. Period political boundaries, railroads, cities, geographic features, and transportation routes provide a fascinating snapshot of the continent during the 1920s, making it an excellent piece for collectors of antique maps, National Geographic memorabilia, or historical cartography. Designed to fold compactly for storage, the map remains in good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, including very small tears along some of the original fold lines.
