A fascinating combination of science and decorative design distinguishes this vintage Galileo thermometer, featuring a tall, clear glass cylinder filled with colorful floating glass spheres that rise and fall with changes in temperature. Dating approximately to the 1990s–2000s, this decorative liquid thermometer features suspended glass bulbs in shades of blue, purple, orange, red, and amber, each accompanied by a small gold-tone temperature tag. Inspired by the scientific principles associated with Italian physicist Galileo Galilei, this distinctive weather instrument uses changes in liquid density to indicate the surrounding room temperature. Its slender cylindrical silhouette, pointed glass finial, and sturdy pedestal base create an elegant display piece for home offices, libraries, bookshelves, and scientific instrument collections. An attractive addition to vintage science décor, educational displays, and unique gift collections. Good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
