Traditional 18th-century-inspired design gives this Colonial Williamsburg Apple Shell Tea Caddy Spoon a distinctive Early American character, featuring a scalloped shell-form bowl with finely detailed radiating decoration and an elegant curled loop handle. Crafted from pewter in the United States, the spoon is a reproduction of an original tea caddy spoon in the Colonial Williamsburg collections. Tea caddy spoons were historically used to measure valuable loose tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot, and shell forms were particularly popular decorative motifs. This reproduction combines historic Williamsburg styling with a compact, sculptural form ideal for a Colonial American collection, traditional tea service, or decorative display. Good vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
