Richly textured and sculptural, this Calvados French apple brandy handled jug captures the rustic character of traditional French country pottery. Crafted in France, circa 1960s–1970s, the ceramic vessel features a rounded body, elongated neck, flared pouring lip, and substantial loop handle finished in a deep matte brown glaze. Applied relief decoration wraps around the body with a raised “CALVADOS” banner accompanied by modeled apples, leaves, and branches, accented with glossy brown glaze for contrast. Calvados is the celebrated apple brandy of Normandy, and decorative jugs such as this were produced for serving, advertising, or souvenir use, making the piece an appealing example of vintage French barware and regional pottery. Its earthy palette and handmade appearance work especially well with French country, rustic, farmhouse, and European interiors. Good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
