Add a charming piece of Victorian children’s illustration to your collection with this antique Kate Greenaway “Little Miss Patty and Master Paul” print, featuring two children perched on a garden wall watching snails, with a pastoral windmill scene below and Greenaway’s verse printed at center. The illustration and rhyme come from Greenaway’s celebrated children’s book Under the Window: Pictures & Rhymes for Children, first published in London, England in 1878–1879; contemporary editions used Edmund Evans’ distinctive color woodblock printing to reproduce Greenaway’s delicate watercolor illustrations. (Project Gutenberg) The print is marked with Greenaway’s “KG” monogram and is presented in a vintage green and pink mat, with an older label identifying it as Kate Greenaway circa 1880 and another stating that the antiquarian print is over 100 years old. A wonderful example of 19th-century British book illustration, Victorian nursery art, antique children’s literature, and Kate Greenaway artwork. Good antique condition with toning, discoloration, and wear consistent with age.
